  • I painted a wall hanging with oil paint. It hasn’t dried in 2 weeks! What should I do?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under wall hanging | 2 Comments »

I thought it was acrylic paint, so I painted a wooden coat rack with the oil by mistake and its been 2 weeks. Should I take the oil paint off somehow, and start from scratch? Why didn’t the oil paint dry? Help!

Just a question back at you sis Did you seal it before you painted with oil based paint if not i would clean it off with Mineral Turpintine and read the can directions for a sealer , do the sealer then top coat, If that doesn’t work I’ll give up the booze for a week…..

    Travelling to Normandy, France?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under bayeux | 4 Comments »

    Hi all,
I’m from Canada and planning to go to visit the landing beaches and museums in Normandy. I heard Bayeux is the best base city to get access to those WWII sites. However, i’m still wondering if it is better to rent a car at Bayeux to visit the landing beaches in terms of convinience (e.g. available parkings along the beaches) and budjet (e.g. cost v.s. taking buses). Any suggestions will be appreciated…

Make Caen your base for exploring Normandy.

There is an excellant public bus system that will take you to most of the Normandy Landing sites, the cemeteries, memorials and museums. A one day bus pass can be purchased for 17.70 euros

Free bus timetables can be acquired from the main tourist office in Caen on the Place St Pierre and a map of the bus routes can be found here: http://www.busverts.fr/_hiver/plan.asp

can embroidery thread be used in a sewing machine?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under embroidery | 8 Comments »

I am going to make a rag quilt, and wanted to use the same embroidery thread in my sewing machine to make it, will it work out ok?

You can use it for bobbin work, but not seams. Put it in the bobbin only, adjust the tension and use it for topstitching.

What color should my walls be with a dark blue rug?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under wall hangings | 12 Comments »

I’m moving into a room with a dark blue rug and I want to paint the walls. It’s pretty much a straight dark blue with no other hints of color. It’s a dining room being converted into a bedroom, so it’s about twice the size of a normal bedroom. I’m male and my furniture and wall hangings are of an old european theme (dark wood, tapestries, old maps etc.). I want to convey a masculine, yet warm and inviting feel to the room. Since the carpet color doesn’t afford me many painting options, I wanted to see what you thought.
I have a color in mind, but I wanted to see what other people thought because perhaps there is something I haven’t thought of myself. Thanks for your input.

i would say a cream or a soft white maybe even a muffin color

I need help on writing a 4 line poem ?

Posted by admin on October 28th, 2009 and filed under bayeux | 2 Comments »

i need help on a poem on Bayeux tapestry it has to be 4 lines.
    Thanks

Poetry is a form of writing and can be taught. THere are many different types of poems, some are unique to an individual made up style while others, follow rules. Since poetry is a type of literary art, it usually deals with human emotion, experience and beauty. However, it can also be about observation, nature, and facts.

What you write about is up to you. Sometimes, its hard to think of how you feel about a subject if it dosnt interest you. So, something that helps is to write a poem that states the facts about it.

If it has to rhyme, some words that rhyme with tapestry are flee, gee, see, sea, bee, tree, knee, etc…

Does anyone know anything about a framed bronze wall hanging called Unity by Giovanni Schoeman?

Posted by admin on October 28th, 2009 and filed under wall hanging | 2 Comments »

It is 3′6" wide x 1′7" high and would appear to be 20 bronze and copper figures on a dark brown hessian background in a gold coloured frame. Very modern style. The bronze is signed ‘Giovanni’. Found in a market in south London in 1992. Any info would be appreciated.

I think you have something really interesting .Get it checked out by an independent art dealer it costs nothing ,like to see a picture?

Are there any records (other than those in England and Europe), that people saw Halley’s Comet in 1066?

Posted by admin on October 28th, 2009 and filed under bayeux | 3 Comments »

It’s shown on the Bayeux Tapestry-what about people in North and South America-any mentions??
    Hi Answerer #3,

    What folk tales?

    Thanks for writing. Keep going,

    people!
O.K., I checked the Wikipedia entry, and saw the reference to Chariots of
the Gods. I moved on-who buys that
    stuff (mentally, that is)?

    Yes.

In fact, there’s a huge religious site in Columbia that was built to honor the comet in 1066.
