  • How to clean cigarette stains off canvas-print wall hanging / canvas picture?

Posted by admin on January 18th, 2010 and filed under wall hanging | 3 Comments »

I have a few canvas printed (not painted) pictures, which are largely a white background. Unfortunatley the white bits have gone a nasty yellow from my smoking (i’ve now stopped, woop woop!!).
Is there anything that can be done to get rid of the yellow staining?

    Thanks. x
lol THE RULE, your a bit of a sad tit arnt you. x
thanks chicagirl51 for the quick answer. x

Try gently rubbing cheap white bread over the canvas. It will be messy but it will absorb the oil from the cigarettes.

Congratulations on stopping smoking. Now that you can see how much damage nicotine can do to art works, just think of what it was doing to your lungs when you sucked it directly in. Nicotine can cause breakdowns in computers, televisions etc because it makes the insides all sticky so dust clings to the components causing them to overheat and fail.

I’m hanging a TV bracket for a very heavy TV on a wall with metal studs.?

The screws that came with it the directions say that use only for wood studs. The wall I’m hanging it on have metal studs. I’m not confident that metal screws will hold. What do you suggest?

Where to buy a glass front wall hanging shadow box for wedding goblets?

Posted by admin on November 15th, 2009 and filed under wall hanging | 3 Comments »

We were given some nice engraved goblets and cake servers as wedding gifts last year. I would like to put them in a glass front shadow box but can’t find one to fit anywhere! I’ve tried the usual stores like Michael’s, JoAnnes, Target, etc. I even tried searching online. The box would need to be 13 inches tall by about 15 inches wide and 2 3/4 or 3 inches deep. I would like it to have a glass front. I saw a few that were over $100 bucks…but I’m sure we can do better than that!

    Try Hobby Lobby.

Does anyon know where I can find a 12 keepsake wall hanging?

What I am looking for looks like a quilt with 12 pockets and it is embroidered at the top "Baby’s First 12 months", you put something in a pocket for the month.

Look at babiesRus.com or babycenter.com they have lots of things like that

I just finished a small primitive rug wall hanging. I can’t saw. Can I use a hot glue gun to fnish the edge?

Posted by admin on November 1st, 2009 and filed under wall hanging | 2 Comments »

    Any suggestions? Thank you!

Get a wooden picture frame or canvas stretcher from an art supply store done to size and then use a staple gun to attach the rug to the stretcher. Don’t use hot glue, should you want to finish it one day to use as a rug or table mat you can’t get the glue out later on.

I painted a wall hanging with oil paint. It hasn’t dried in 2 weeks! What should I do?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under wall hanging | 2 Comments »

I thought it was acrylic paint, so I painted a wooden coat rack with the oil by mistake and its been 2 weeks. Should I take the oil paint off somehow, and start from scratch? Why didn’t the oil paint dry? Help!

Just a question back at you sis Did you seal it before you painted with oil based paint if not i would clean it off with Mineral Turpintine and read the can directions for a sealer , do the sealer then top coat, If that doesn’t work I’ll give up the booze for a week…..

Does anyone know anything about a framed bronze wall hanging called Unity by Giovanni Schoeman?

Posted by admin on October 28th, 2009 and filed under wall hanging | 2 Comments »

It is 3′6" wide x 1′7" high and would appear to be 20 bronze and copper figures on a dark brown hessian background in a gold coloured frame. Very modern style. The bronze is signed ‘Giovanni’. Found in a market in south London in 1992. Any info would be appreciated.

I think you have something really interesting .Get it checked out by an independent art dealer it costs nothing ,like to see a picture?

I have a 4×3 ft framed glass wall hanging of this picture,.In good condition, How much do you think it would be worth?

    Nicole,
You need to find an experienced art assessor to see if what you have is a print, or an original. The assessor will also tell you how much the piece is worth. If there is a number that looks like "431/800", it is a print, which may or may not have some worth that can be determined by an assessor.
